Mike Herpy rides to Wingpsread, Wednesday June 15, 2011. Herpy, 26, is an architect in Ohio. He is on a month long, 2,000 bicycle ride between Frank Lloyd Wright's Penfield House in Willoughby Hills, Ohio and Blair House in Cody, Wyoming.

Herpy hopes to raise $10,800 for the construction of three houses through Constru Casa in Guatemalan. Herpy is visiting Wright sites, particularly Usonian homes, "Frank Lloyd Wright's 'Usonian home' was a 'basic' dwelling type that strove to provide poetic dwelling spaces with minimal dollars." Those are the kinds of homes he hopes can be built by Constru Casa.

Herpy is not limiting his visits to Usonian homes. He took a spin in front of Wingspread for a photo, after riding there in the rain. Herpy is camping in parks throughout his trip. I am a bicyclist with an annual goal of 4,000 miles. Still, my jaw dropped when I tried to pick up Herpy's bicycle, and saw how fast he was able to ride, as he made his way from our house to Wingspread.
