What is the measure of a person's life?

There are infinite answers to that question. There is one easy way to answer that question, however, when we consider the responses to the death Robert Leary, who died Sunday just a few days after celebrating his 52nd birthday.

I was sent an email a year ago with news about the effort to sell the Ennis House, Robert's house. It was a group email that went to 73 people. I clicked on "Reply All" a few days ago to let this group of friends and associates of Robert know about the story I was posting to this website.

The response to that and subsequent emails from within the group has been impressive. There is seemingly no end to the things people from this group of 73 want to write about Robert or about various considerations that inevitably follow one's death: when and where will services be? How can we memorialize him? And, tonight, members of the group started sending us a wonderful variety of photos of Robert, from Robert as a young man, on.

I was asked to send the photos posted the other day to the Los Angeles Conservancy. I found a few more photos of Robert while pulling those files. The photos posted Sunday are from 2008. These are from 2009, when Robert took Cindy and me back to the Ennis House. You can share the anticipation we always felt when he unlocked the gate FOR US. I leave you tonight with three more photos of Robert.
