Packers Thompson needs to put draft on hold

Paging Ted Thompson.

I know the Packers general manager is immersed with the upcoming draft and is trying his best to unearth another gem like Justin Harrell.

Nevertheless, I wanted to alert Thompson that the Carolina Panthers are shopping All-Pro defensive end Julius Peppers.

There are reports the New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys, along with two other unidentified teams, are intensely interested in Peppers’ immense talents.

If the Patriots and Cowboys covet Peppers – and apparently only for a measly second-round draft choice -- the Packers should be as well.

Can you imagine the impact Peppers would have in the Packers’ new 3-4 defense?

Can you imagine opposing offensive coordinators trying to game-plan for Peppers and Aaron Kampman – two of the premier sackmen in the game?

With a boatload of money at his disposal – estimated to be more than $30 million – Thompson has no excuse, absolutely none, for not trying to acquire Peppers.

Your sarcasm is not cool. Let's see how it plays out. Maybe you can try interviewing someone from the Packers? There is nothing new in your article. It's all been said already on ESPN and nfl.com.

By the way New England and Dallas along with 2 other NFC teams are on Peppers wish list, not the other way around.

1) Peppers doesn't get along with his former d-coordinator, who is now the Packers d-line coach and defensive assistant...meaning he likely wouldn't want to play in GB

2) The Patriots are reportedly offering the 34th pick in the draft...the Packers have the 9th and 41st picks and you do not trade the 9th pick in the draft for a guy who has been franchise tagged and you would only own the rights to for 1 year....what do you think the Panthers would take...34 or 41? though so....
try thinking things through before you go spouting off about something you know next to nothing about

Everyone is entitled to an opinion or to post outright silly ideas, so I guess that is why Gery posts his Packer "news".

Thankfully, he seems to have stopped the childish TT name calling.

Personally, I think Gery should stick to reporting on Prep Sports......

Then again, after many stories on the subject "Where in the world is J. Wilson headed to college", Gery did not even break the news when Wilson selected Oregon!

Thompson has no intention of trading for anyone. Give up a precious draft pick when it can be used on another one of his second or third stringers? Sit on the money, Ted. Keep your reputation intact. Maybe they will wake up and change G.M.s.

I forgot to mention, Green Bay is most likely going to draft Orakpo, Brown, or Raji anyway. Llike brewpackman said, why give away picks for Peppers when we may only hang on to him for a year.

Great point Brett Favre....too bad logic falls on deaf ears when it comes to Gerys world.....not to mention the fact that there might be no salary cap starting next year, and the Packers do not have a deep pocket owner who can spend like Daniel Snyder....and we know how successful his methods have been....I can't wait to see his latest $100 million dollar baby blow up in his face, I heard a writer from Nashville compare Haynesworth to Cletidus Hunt.....get the big contract and shut it down.
