Finally, another new campground in Wisconsin

Located in Belgium, 63 miles north of Racine (about an hour and 20 minutes), Harrington Beach State Park is home to Wisconsin's newest state park campground.

Scheduled to open Wednesday, Aug. 26, the campground will be open until Nov.1, and reopen in the spring on May 5, 2010, (May 14 with reservations).

Campsites include 31 electric, 33 non-electric, five walk-in, one group and one kayak.

The campground also features a shower building with restroom facilities and water fountains...(bubblers).

Anyone who has visited this park before is familiar with its hiking, nature, historic and horse trails and its beautiful mile-long beach. The park offers several picnic shelters and allows dogs on its south beach.

For the time being, campsites will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For reservations (starting Sept. 9), call Reserve America at (888) 947-2757, visit the Web, http://www.reserveamerica.com/ or call the park office, (262) 285-3015.

This may become my new favorite Wisconsin State Park campground; although it will be hard to beat Kohler Andrae State Park (another 20 miles to the north).

What's your favorite state park in Wisconsin--for camping?
