Yosemite National Park is located about 150 miles east of Sacramento and about 100 miles south of Lake Tahoe (a little north of central California) in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada. A guest on a radio travel show Saturday morning was talking about a hotel that had been designed to look like "the northwest--you know, Yosemite and Old Faithful." The "travel expert" didn't even correct her. The first national park of the United States, Yellowstone National Park is located in northwestern Wyoming--parts of the park are also in eastern Idaho and southern Montana. This is the home of the famous geyser.
In case you didn't know, now you do. Yosemite is in California; Yellowstone is (mostly) in Wyoming and is home to Old Faithful. Have you been to either park? Which is your favorite? Monday April 21, 2008

Boston celebrates Patriots Day with the Boston Marathon today. My daughter is headed to Boston on Wednesday to compete in a Music Festival with her high school band. She'll have a some free time each day for exploring the city. Any suggestions? Faneuil Hall Marketplace is on her itinerary and will be walking the Freedom Trail. Plans also include a tour of the city and
of Fenway Park. What do you think are the best sights to see in Boston? Any local food she should be sure to try? What do you recommend? |
