Only in Minnesota. Coleman/Franken debacle
Posted by: racinenativemn on January 6, 2009 at 9:19AM CST
Out of all the polling places in Hennepin Co. I think ours is probably the most accurate. Most likely because we're the smallest. 25 polling places in my county has more votes for Franken than there are registered voters. What in the heck is going on? Duplicate ballots are being printed out and counted twice. Sheesh talk about corruption. I'm very disappointed in the process, but it's kind of tough when the state is run by far-left lunatics. Not sure what's going to happen but all we can do is pray.

Just keep producing new ballots and double counting others until the democrat takes the lead, then shut it down and declare victory. That's what's been going on in Minnesota. People up there must be insane. First they elect Jesse Ventura, then they let a nutjob like Franken steal the election.

Coleman has been to court numerous times and was unable to support his allegations, yet now we learn of a conspiracy theory of a rigged election that must reach the State Supreme Court.? Any chance this is just more sour grapes?

Shades of 2000. Minor spuds to be whining about don't you think? Surely Al can't screw the pooch nearly as badly as Bush did with his power grab.

I guess when a democrat wins a close election, it's because of election fraud and 'far-left lunatics' but I'm sure when the republican wins it's the 'will of the people"! I wouldn't consider the Supreme Court of Minnesota to be a bunch of 'far-left lunatics"! Yes, granny grits, I agree it is more 'sour grapes'!

I think it is ironic that when Coleman was ahead he called on Franken to concede because that's what he would do, but now that Coleman is behind in the count he isn't doing what he said he would do.

yeah you're right Franken is ahead even if there are more votes than voters in 25 precincs Coleman should concede.

I think this is one of the reasons Coleman is so desperate to remain in office. It provides him with a source of funds to convert to legal defense.

"Donors to Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman's re-election campaign may be surprised to learn that the St. Paul Republican is planning to use their contributions to pay blue-chip criminal defense lawyers to defend him against a reported FBI probe into his dealings with a wealthy businessman."

Oh Granny! Not another DIRTY Republican. Shades of Newt!

Give them enough time and they seem to polish even their dirtiest examples as heros again.

You say the state is run by far left lunatics, do you refer to people like Rush Limbaugh as a far right lunatic?

big- huck and granny,

Please - show some some intellectual honesty. Obviously we all know what side of the aisle your on, but when 1000 votes show up after the election and ALL the votes are for Franken and when 25 districts have more votes than voters it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that at the very least there is an appearance of impropriety, and probably outright thievery.

Can we all hear you say that vote fraud from either party is a crime against all voters and it should not be tolerated.

Agreed. And so it would seem, if what you say is true, but not if what you say is a spin on the facts. And is your implication that republicans were trying to hide those votes from the election officials? And is it accurate that '25 districts have more votes than voters'? Is it true then that the Minn. Supreme Court is allowing voter fraud just so they can have Franken certified? Voter fraud (if there is any) from either party is a crome against all voters and should not be tolerated. And all legal ballots should be counted whether they are for Franken or Coleman!

Thanks BF- and I will admit that I base my opinion on the basis that those are facts and not spin. However, I have not heard anyone dispute those claims. It seems that the claim that more votes than voters would be easy to verify.

The fact that bothers me is that the votes that showed up were absentee ballots that were originally thrown out on election day. When the election board decided to count those ballots, they said that both sides had to agree on which ballots were to be included, which they both agreed on. When those votes showed Franken in the lead, Coleman's team then wanted further excluded votes tallied. Franken's team didn't want them in because they were thought to be from obviously Coleman'supporter areas. I do believe, even if it does result in Franken losing, that ALL absentee ballots should be voted, not just the ones originally agreed upon, I would not want to serve as senator if I did not let those ballots be counted also. So I still agree with you.

BTW--I cannot find any references in the media as to 'more votes than voters' other than the claim by republicans that some absentee ballots for Franken were voted twice.
