Anyone experience a miracle?
Posted by: racinenativemn at 4:54PM CST on March 20, 2008

Anyone have a near death experience or maybe seen the light? or maybe it was a gift given in a time of need.

My family has experienced countless miracles through faith in Christ. My brothers vision was restored. I had to have knee surgery but was healed through prayer. My dads health was restored after years of neglect to his body.

James 5:14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of Jesus.

Wow he's going to do it. what character. good job Spitzer. Should McCain step down now?

New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer is expected to submit his resignation to the New York General Assembly as early as Monday night after allegations surfaced earlier in the day that he is "Client 9," named in a federal prostitution case, sources told FOX News.

Four arrests were made last week in connection to the alleged high-dollar ring, known as the Emperors Club VIP. According to a law enforcement official, Spitzer was named in court papers as a client after being taped arranging a meeting with one of the prostitutes.

The New York Times reports that the governor's travel records show he was in Washington in mid-February. It also says one of the ring's clients arranged to meet with a prostitute during that time.

Spitzer did not mention his resignation in a brief appearance before reporters Monday, in which he apologized to his family.

"Over the past nine years — eight years as attorney general and one as governor — I have tried to uphold a vision of progressive politics that would rebuild New York and create opportunity for all. We sought to bring real change to New York and that will continue," Spitzer said with his wife at his side. The couple has three daughters.

"Today, I want to briefly address a private matter. I have acted in a way that violates my obligation to my family, and that violates my — or any sense of right and wrong. I apologize first, and most importantly, to my family. I apologize to the public, who I promised better.

"I do not believe that politics in the long run is about individuals, it is about ideas for the public good and doing what is best for the state of New York. But I am disappointed and failed to live up to the standard I expected of myself. I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family. I will not be taking questions. Thank you very much. I will report back to you in short order. Thank you very much," Spitzer said.

Spitzer, a Democrat, scheduled the abrupt announcement from his office as news reports were breaking that the governor told staffers about his alleged involvement in the prostitution ring.

In the affidavit signed by FBI agent Kenneth Hosey, the high-priced agency was populated by very picky hookers. The complaint details how one prospective hooker refused to work for the company because it didn't pay enough and complained that a friend of hers had sex twice in an hour without getting dinner first.

In another wiretapped conversation outlined in the affidavit, Emperors Club employees complained about a hooker who had to leave appointments early to pick up her kids from school.

The club's Web site shows a fee schedule of $1,000 per hour for a three-diamond prostitute and $3,100 per hour for a seven-diamond prostitute. Members of the exclusive Icon Club could reach restricted areas of the Web site and schedule appointments with the highest prostitutes, whose fees started at $5,500 per hour, the press release reads.

The New York Sun reports that the investigation was run by U.S. attorneys who not only were probing individuals linked to the ring, but who are part of the federal public corruption unit that investigates wrongdoing by elected and unelected officials.

While this is the worst problem Spitzer has faced, his 14 months in office have been marred by problems, including an unpopular plan to grant driver's licenses to illegal immigrants and a plot by his aides to smear Spitzer's main Republican nemesis.

He had been expected to testify to the state Public Integrity Commission he had created to answer for his role in the scandal, in which his aides were accused of misusing state police to compile travel records to embarrass Senate Republican leader Joseph Bruno.

Spitzer had served two terms as attorney general where he pursued criminal and civil cases and cracked down on misconduct and conflicts of interests on Wall Street and in corporate America. He had previously been a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, handling organized crime and white-collar crime cases.

Spitzer's popularity has sagged according to recent polls. A January 25 Marist College poll showed 56 percent of registered voters did not approve of Spitzer's job, and he only carried a 35 percent approval rating.

McCain or Spitzer sexcapades? Which is the bigger story?
Posted by: racinenativemn at 4:37PM CST on March 10, 2008
I think it's funny the reaction about McCain having some fling with a lobbyist in which there is no evidence and yet we still had some really stupid discussions about a non-issue and now Gov. Spitzer involved with this prostitution ring. Comments? I really feel sorry for his family. Do you think he'll pull a Bill Clinton? I'm guessing if it was a Republican he would have stepped down by now. Good luck client #9!!

Obamicans or Clintservatives?
Posted by: racinenativemn at 1:23AM CST on March 5, 2008
What's Hillarys secret? Some people are reporting her stint on snl hurt Obama. Is it because hate radio was urging people to vote Hillary to keep the battle alive? Or did Hillary finally give more hope in her speeches than Obama? With John McCain clinching the (R)nomination things are pretty boring and not too exciting on the republican side. Itll be intersting to see how the dems fight it out. Who do you think will win the nomination? Who do you want to win?

Anyone ever have a run-in with a celebrity?
Posted by: racinenativemn at 6:43PM CST on March 3, 2008

I was thinking of a time in 2002 when my cousin and I went downtown Milwaukee to get a hotel room. When i was checking in the hotel workers were talking about Rikishi(I think he's Samoan, big fat guy) checking in because WWE Raw was in mil. and the next day and he was fighting the Rock. When i went out to move the car he was up michigan ave unloading some stuff so what do annoying fans do. We drove up and stopped traffic and my cousin held out his hand and tryed to say hey rikishi. He gave us the most dirtiest look. so my cousin thought it was funny to call him a fat mother-bleep and a couple more bleeps. I sped off because i didnt want a well deserved #####-whoopin. He stood in the street and gave us a double middle flip.

I'm glad i have different outlets than the mainstream media. Iraq news coverage is so misleading. I can't stress iraqgoodnews.com enough.

One year ago, liberal journalists depicted the surge of U.S. troops to Iraq as a certain failure. “A lot of people are going to go to bed tonight terrified,” MSNBC’s Chris Matthews opined just minutes after President Bush announced the policy on January 10, 2007. Other journalists were only slightly more subtle. “Many experts warn, it’s too little, too late,” NBC’s Jim Miklaszewski argued on the January 8, 2007 Nightly News. The next morning on NBC’s Today, the network’s graphic describing Iraq was “Lost Cause?”

At the same time, leading Democrats left themselves no wiggle room as they, too, denounced the surge. Senator Barack Obama called it “wrong-headed” and countered with a proposal to pull nearly all U.S. troops out of Iraq by March 2008. Senator Hillary Clinton came back from a quick trip to Iraq to declare: “I am opposed to this escalation,” while another Democratic candidate, Senator Joe Biden, blasted the troop surge as “a tragic mistake.”

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

One year later, the President’s surge strategy is well on its way to succeeding. The Iraqi parliament has passed several laws meeting required political reconciliation benchmarks. Attacks in Baghdad have fallen up to 80 percent in the past twelve months, Reuters reported February 16. Deaths among Iraqi military forces and civilians have dropped by more than two-thirds, from more than 2,000 per month in early 2007 to fewer than 600 per month since November.

And U.S. military deaths have also declined, falling from 126 in May 2007 to 40 in January 2008 and just 29 so far in February, with two days left in the month. Yet this good news seems to have diminished the media elite’s interest in broadcasting any news from Iraq.

MRC intern Lyndsi Thomas helped tabulate all ABC, CBS and NBC evening news stories about Iraq since the beginning of 2007, just as the surge strategy was being implemented. After heavy coverage of the shift to a new Iraq policy in January and February 2007, the TV coverage began to closely track the rising and falling death rates for U.S. soldiers in Iraq. When the number of U.S. fatalities jumped in May, TV coverage jumped, too. When U.S. casualties began to steadily decline, TV coverage of Iraq dramatically decreased. (See chart.)

While the amount of coverage has shriveled, the tone remains more negative than positive. So far this month, the three evening newscasts have aired just 41 items on Iraq, most (23) just brief items read by the anchor. A mere seven stories were field reports from Iraq. Only ABC’s World News (February 13) noted the passage of key legislation by the Iraqi parliament, followed by a unique story the next evening on the success of the surge. The CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News offered no such stories in February, but NBC did find time to report a visit to Iraq by actress Angelina Jolie.

Back in December, NBC’s Tim Russert conceded that the media were less interested in covering a successful U.S. mission in Iraq, telling anchor Brian Williams that “with the surge in Iraq and the level of American deaths declining, it is off the front pages.”

This is not neutral news judgment, but a great favor to anti-surge Democrats, since TV’s lack of interest in Iraq spares them the chore of defending their now-discredited opposition to the surge. Does anyone think the media would have let John McCain off the hook had the surge failed as spectacularly as it has succeeded?
