After the shocker that was last week, this week's elimination on "American Idol" was pretty much a forgone conclusion.
Brooke White was sent home in a very tearful farewell. As some of you have pointed out, she does seem more fragile than most contestants (especially considering her age). So maybe it's best she gets a little break from the spotlight.
But then she's got the "Idol" tour and, after that, I'm sure she'll be out with a CD of Carole King/Carly SImon-esque stuff. And I might just check it out on iTunes. Who knows?
In the Bottom 2 with her was Syesha Mercado. And I'm frightened to think that means she'll go home next week and doofus Jason Castro (or "J-Cas" as Ryan annoyingly called him Wednesday night) will be third.
But anything could happen next week. We'll probably be treated to some more "updated" songs, as Ryan said it's Rock Hall of Fame week. Who knows what those parameters will be, but it should offer more variety for the Top 4 to choose from.
And as bummed as I am to see Brooke go, I'm glad Syesha is still in it. She's finally in the game lately, and I'd like to see what more she can give us.
We were also admonished by Ryan for spreading rumors about Paula on the Internets that "aren't true." And that they're family and they love each other. Great. That's heartwarming. Hugs and kisses everyone! But Paula's still loopy for whatever reason. And it's entertaining and it will be talked about. End of story.
The usually irritating live phone call portion of the show was kind of fun this week, as Simon's first crush (a girl he kissed when he was 9) called in to talk to him. He turned beet red. And even though we all know she only got through because of her connection, it was still cute.
Oh, and Natasha Bedingfield and Neil Diamond performed (separately). Natasha actually inspired what appeared to be genuine emotion from David Archuleta, though. (I saw it! Really, there was a glimmer in his eye!) When Ryan said David wanted Natasha to go to prom with him, David broke out in an actual smile (not one of those fakey, "smile 'cause Daddy said to smile" smiles). Maybe he's human after all ...
So what did you think? Were you sad to see Brooke go? Can you stand the thought of another week of Jason or David A.?
Well...I missed both shows this week. Too much going on politically that had my attention. I did tape them so maybe over the weekend I will try to watch. I will say that I am not sorry Brooke got voted off. She didn't seem to improve over the weeks. Jason and Syesha will probably be next in line....which leaves the two Davids...with David Cook winning. Let's hope anyways...
I think Jason sounded horrible on both songs! I do think Brooke was due to go but I didn't think it was going to be this week. I totally agree though that David Cook SHOULD win...however we all know Idol...he will get booted at 3 and then turn out to be another Chris Daughtrey. Better for him that way anyhow...he can chose his own label. :-)
Ann, I couldn't have said it better myself. I really hope David Cook wins but we all know it will probably be Archuletta. If Castro wins I'm boycotting the show!
Don't really care, as I don't watch it. Only watch it in the begining to see the really BAD people. After that, I feal that they drag it out for way to LONG.
For a year with the best pool of singers yet - there isn't much to choose from. I wish it were Jason going home this week but on the other hand I just don't see Brooke singing "Rock n Roll" next week. I'm not sure anyone will handle RnR except for David C. He should shine!
Jason's got a much cooler personality than anybody on that show. Both of the David's are knobs and Syesha is fake, and I don't really know what there is to dislike. Maybe cos he doesn't suck up to the judges and the guest "stars"...
Personality, crap, I thought this was a singing show... Just a hint Raytown...He doesn't sing well, he only has one way of singing and doesn't change with the style of music. BORING.
I'd personally like to see Iggy Pop pummel the life out of the Davids onstage this week, in honor of their "rock n roll" week. now that would be entertaining
Raytown Kid, I'm sure Jason would be a "cool dude to chill with," but this isn't a competition to find the best of the bunch who is cool to chill with. As crazy4cars said, he's the weakest singer (his voice is too thin to pull off most songs), and he can only sing one style of song.
yeah I was only wondering why you didn't like his personality. You called him a doofus and have said stuff before. I dunno, I just thought he seemed like a cool dude. and about your argument that he can only sing one kind of song.. SO CAN ALL OF THEM! God, david archeleta and cooke make every song sound the same. that's not a good argument to me, at all sorry.
I can't say that I was sad to see brooke go, but did like her "sound" sometimes. Her "sunshine" personality left little to be desired, but sometimes she made even me smile. I do think David A. is going to win in...he's more marketable than others...young, cute etc. I think his career should be limited to Disney movies. He can sing, no doubt but let's end it there.
Raytown Kid: Yep, Archuleta is a total one-trick pony, too. And I'm sick of him, too. But he does have a good voice. Frankly, they're all a little one-note, and kind a boring to boot. That's why I'm less than enthused about this season overall. As for Jason, I guess I'm not a fan of his "doofus" kinda "stoner" vibe. I just don't find that to be a good quality in someone. And I have to wonder if it's somewhat put-on. He seems like a nice enough guy; I'm just really over him.
I guess I'd just rather hang out with a "doofus stoner" than a square with no personality (archeleta) or a knob who thinks he's already in the rock n roll hall of fame (cook)
