Hidden Headlines of Wisconsin
Chad Lewis, author and researcher, will present a program on “Hidden
Headlines of Wisconsin – Strange Unusual and Bizarre Newspaper Stories
1860-1910” at the Graham Public Library, 1215 Main
Street in Union Grove on Wednesday, September 26 from
2-3 p.m. This presentation showcases over 200 unusual
articles that appeared in Wisconsin newspapers. From curious citizens and weird creatures to
strange deaths and other unbelievable accounts, this presentation looks at the
good old days of Wisconsin where you could step out of your country home and
take a leisurely stroll past the local pharmacy to the city pond where kids
would be fishing the day away right next to where the sea serpent was
spotted. It was a time when courting
sweethearts could go for a quiet drive through the countryside and be terrorized
by the “wild man.” It was a time when
the family was still important in our lives and loving parents proudly gave
birth to a half dog and half child. It
was a time when starry eyed kids gazed into the dark night sky and wondered
about the universe while watching a hovering disk slowly float over their
home.
