Lyden Moon, 9:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at McAuliffe's Pub, 3700 Meachem Road

Guitarist Lyden Moon returns to McAuliffe’s Pub, 3700 Meachem Road, Saturday to open for the Ozzy Osbourne band, Blizzard of Oz. The cover charge is $10 for the show from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Although he performs more often in the Chicagoland area with the likes of Steve Vai, Gary Hoey and Michael Angelo at venues including the House of Blues and Hard Rock Cafe, Moon is now a common name in Racine music circles.

The melodic shred instrumental guitar music that he plays is fast, technical and awe inspiring but with an underlying strong melodic base. Moon shot to fame when he won an international guitar contest that gave him the opportunity to open for the legendary Steve Vai at Chicago’s House of Blues and the two jammed together on a couple of songs. The club has since booked Moon a number of additional times.

Over the course of four full length CDs of which the first three have sold out, Moon has garnered critical praise as well as radio play regionally in the U.S. along with Australia and Romania.

Moon is also asked to be a clinician at places including Guitar Center, Cascio Interstate Music, Good-N-Loud and others. Moon is joined on stage by Joel Thierfelder on bass guitars and Dan Jung on drums.

I've know Lyden for years and seen him lots of times. Well worth the $10 if you enjoy a great guitar show.
