Your band can be on Center Stage.

Center Stage, the JT’s local band spotlight, is now a popular stop on our award-winning Web site. It still appears in Thursday's Out & About section in the newspaper, but it's here, too. And we want to help you make our audience your audience.

But we need something from you. (There’s always a catch, right?)

Send us a high-resolution (300 dpi or better) picture of your band, the band’s name, biographical information, name and position of each band member and name and telephone number of a contact person.

Sounds pretty standard, huh? Well, here’s the new part: ... (more)

06/05/2007: Clumsy Lovers, 8 p.m. June 7 at McAuliffe's Pub
Posted by: Scott Anderson at 11:35AM CST on July 2, 2007
The Clumsy Lovers of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at McAuliffe’s Pub, 3700 Meachem Road. The cover charge is $12.

Cross the whimsical pop of The Barenaked Ladies, the raucous rootsiness of Great Big Sea, the lonesome alt-country of Blue Rodeo and the newgrass traditionalism of The Duhks, move the whole shooting match to Vancouver, and you’ve got The Clumsy Lovers

Collect 15 slices of their bright, bouncy ’n breezy roots-pop — a gleefully genre-busting gumbo that blends traditional bluegrass, Celtic and country with contemporary hooks, lyrics and melodies, then tosses in dashes of reggae, Afrobeat, folk-hop and surf-rock for extra flavor — and you’ve got their sophomore major-label set “Smart Kid.”

Posted by: Scott Anderson at 11:32AM CST on July 2, 2007
Kashmir, the Led Zeppelin show, will perform at 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Optyx, 6501 Washington Ave. The cover charge is $8.

Kashmir was formed in late 2001 after guitarist Frank Livingston decided to leave the Led Zeppelin tribute band he was in to form a show based on substance and feel rather than just “fitting the suit.”

“It’s important to look the part, but way too often tribute bands seem to forget that without the sound, the look does nothing,” said Livingston.

Kashmir seeks to re-create the mindset of a 70s Zeppelin show utilizing in a non-pretentious way authentic vintage stage gear, costumes and special effects, with attention to great detail. But most importantly, Kashmir does not take liberties on “improving” the music. ... (more)
