Sounds of the Season
Posted by: Kristi at 10:34AM CST on December 12, 2007

I can hardly wait until Evelyn's Holiday Party on Friday, December 21st, when Night Wing performs from 8-11pm.  This is the time of year when everyone loves to hear one or two Christmas carols.  I enjoy how Night Wing includes seasonal arrangements into their high energy variety music show!

Night Wing is performing downtown again on New Years' Eve at Shillings Pub to ring in the new year **  Did you know Shillings serves food now?!!  Come on in and get a feel of what downtown Racine offers for food, drinks and live entertainment!  Night Wing is ringing in the new year with joyful music.  Merry Christmas Racine!!

Acoustic Horizon, 7 p.m., Dec. 14 at JavaVino
Posted by: Heather at 11:31AM CST on December 11, 2007
Acoustic Horizon will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at JavaVino, 424 Main St. There is no cover charge.

Acoustic Horizon was formed on Christmas Eve in 1999. Connie Kirchner and Jeff Benner are the two who represent the name. Their music is from the late '70s and forward.

“We were at a holiday gathering with good food, friends, spirits and guitars,” said Kirchner. “Several of us played backup music and sang to compact discs playing on the stereo. We jammed for a few hours and took a break. I calmly said ‘I want to play and sing for people.”’ Benner replied, “I’ll do that with you if you want.”

The duo started practicing in January of 2000 and landed their first gig by accident in April of 2000 when a two-piece band failed to show up one night at a local bar in town.

The two were introduced as Jeff and Connie for a long time. Benner gets the credit for the creation of the band name.

Acoustic Horizon has played for five years for the Catholic Junior League’s fundraiser, and for private parties, benefits and at local bars. They are new at JavaVino, performing once a month from 7 to 9 p.m. while a free wine and beer tasting event takes place.
