Radioactive Squirrels to perform Jim Morrison/Doors show at McAuliffe's Pub

Radioactive Squirrels will perform an entire show dedicated to the music and poetry of Jim Morrison and The Doors from 10 p.m. to close Saturday at McAuliffe’s Pub. The cover charge is $5.

Special guests include Gary Lekus from Gary’s Music World on keyboards and Al Groth from the Rhythm Dogs on saxophone. Popular hits such as "LA Woman," "Light My Fire" and "Roadhouse Blues" will be featured. Die-hard fans will be treated to more obscure Doors tunes interweaved with Morrison’s poetry.

Radioactive Squirrels are also known for their unique, fuel-injected versions of classic rock songs. Their influences include the Ramones, Violent Femmes, U2, Elvis Presley, Queen and the Rolling Stones. They’ve opened for regional acts like Pat McCurdy and Catfight and even shared the stage with the legendary Peter Tork of the Monkees. The Squirrels have headlined at the Brat Stop, Austin’s in Libertyville, Cubby Bear in Chicago and 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park, Ill. They’ve performed at festivals such as HarborFest, the Big Fish Bash (formerly Salmon-a-Rama), Woofstock and Bloomin’ Days in Kenosha. Radioactive Squirrels participated in many community fundraising events in Racine such as Thoughts for Food and Jammin’ For The Arts and Kenosha’s Retro at the Rhode, Rock the Block and Jammin’ The Loop.

Gypsy Creed, 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at The Den Again

Gypsy Creed brings their rock show Saturday, April 12, to The Den Again, 6501 Washington Ave., for a live recording. The cover charge is $4 for the show from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Gypsy Creed is based out of Racine and performs in southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. In addition to an arrangement of originals, the band plays a wide variety of music fromThe Who, Led Zeppelin, The Scorpions, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, Nazareth, Tom Petty, Poison, Ozzy Osbourne, Eric Clapton, CCR, Jet, Brad Paisley and Toby Keith among others.

 Band members include Dee Thomas, bass guitarist; Jeff Thompson, vocals, lead and rhythm guitarist; Joe Drummen, percussionist; and Bill Schook, vocals, harmonica and lead and rhythm guitarist.

Blizzard of Oz at The Den Again

The Blizzard of Ozz brings their Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne tribute show Saturday, April 5, to The Den Again, 6501 Washington Ave. The cover charge is $8 for the show from 9:30 p.m. to close.

The Blizzard of Ozz is a well-established band featuring some of the best musicians from the Chicagoland area. The band was formed in 1996 by guitarist Kevin M. Buck, and they have played well over a thousand successful shows since. The Blizzard of Ozz plays clubs and theaters nationally, and they are available for various festivals, colleges and other events.

The band plays more than 60 songs from Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne, from giant hits like "Paranoid," "Iron Man" and "Crazy Train" to more obscure songs like "S.A.T.O," "A National Acrobat" and "Under The Sun." With such an extensive set list, the band is available to play anywhere from 15 minutes to five hours, and can range from traditional sounding classic rock to more modern sounding heavy metal. One can expect a professional concert experience that leaves the crowd in awe.

The Blizzard of Ozz has been featured on many television shows and has received much positive press from magazines and newspapers over the years. The Blizzard of Ozz was voted top three tribute artists by the Midwest Beat Magazine in their 2004 readers’ poll. The band was also nominated for the best tribute band by Suburban Nightlife in 2006.

The current lineup features Scott T. Cutler as the Ozzy, Kevin M. Buck on guitar, Chuck Hamilton on bass and Marcus Lee Cox on drums.
