School district committed to "transparency and accountabilitiy"
Posted by: Questioning on July 6, 2009 at 1:21PM CST

Before you get excited - the school district is NOT Racine Unified - it's MPS. Remember a few months ago, when the Citizens for Responsible Government posted an online database of all MPS invoices?

Now MPS has taken the reins and has started posted the information themselves, according to a recent JSonline article.

Do you think RUSD should do the same? Why or why not?

I think all transactions and costs should be posted online. It's a matter of public record if it's being done in the public sector. As a property owner I don't want the entitlement mentality to get in the way of keeping costs down. I have to do it in my personal budget and the gov't whether city, county, state etc or services such as public works, schools etc should live within their means as well. What do they need food at a meeting for? Don't they get paid enough to feed themselves? They make almost triple what I do in a year and they just stick their little piggy heads into the public trough and gobble up whatever they can find. Enough is enough. Go home and eat!
If RUSD is getting stimulous money I want to see where it's going to go. If it's spent wisely for the betterment of all then I suppose it's ok- but we shouldn't even be in the position for receiving federal dollars in the first place if those in charge are responsible with the budget.
I had to work to finally be able to get an mp3 player. I should have enrolled in one of the Milwaukee schools to get one for free. What kind of B.S. is that?!?!?!
