Newsweek has a good read about the false claims being pushed by republicans in an attempt to scare people

One of the major problems that we have today is not that there are those who put out such lies, but that there are those who put the lies out there knowing that they are lies. And the other major problem is that there are those who are convinced that the lies are true, and that nothing you say will convince them otherwise. How many times have we seen people say "I don't care what you say, I will never believe....." or how many times have we heard the response "whatever" and "who cares"? This is one of the true diseases we are faced with in the healthcare debate.

"but that there are those who put the lies out there knowing that they are lies. ". Would this include those who blog under a false name?

Thanks, BL....

I am posting a reply to granny's blog about how Republicans want to kill SS here:

But, Granny, HR3200 will take $500 Billion from Medicare, and will cancel Medicare Advantage.

They will use these "savings" to insure some of the 45 million uninsured people in the US. Not to balance the budget or anything.

This is not a Republican's idea...it comes straight from Pelosi and Co.

So how does that make it a Republican who is "pulling the plug?"

The Dems are the ones gutting Medicare. Not the Republicans....no matter how you try to spin it with 4 year old quotes and data. (I meant 40 year old data)

The last Republican president, George Bush, added a very valuable asset to Medicare- drug coverage. It has helped millions of elderly Americans afford to buy their prescriptions, including my parents and in-laws.

Republicans are pragmatists. They weren't in favor of Medicare when it started because they thought that it was too expensive and too controlling of government and they were right.

But with so many people now on Medicare, they realize the political reality is keeping it and fixing it if possible. Republicans are not trying to kill Medicare now and you know it.

This is just another red-herring that the liberals want to drag around trying to distract attention from the real fight - - socialized medicine.

As usual, I'll be posting this on one of my own blogs, too, just in case you whimsically decide not to allow it.

AWBC, you make all these wild accusations, but the numbers all say you have no idea what you're talking about. There are isolated incidents in every nation for every bad thing conceivable, but it STILL stands that America is the only industrialized nation that allows for-profit companies to distribute health care, all at a price of about 35 percent MORE PER CAPITA THAN THE SECOND HIGHEST-SPENDING NATION. What about this should we be proud of, exactly?

"you make all these wild accusations," and then you say; "There are isolated incidents in every nation for every bad thing conceivable". They sound like the same comment to me house. Is that a "glass house"?

MC, housedivided and the rest of the liberals can't seem to come to terms with profit. So what if we are the only industrialized nation that allows for profit companies to distribute health care?

We have the best, very best health care in the world! And profit has driven the way. Our innovation has made it possible for people to live longer, healthier lives. Take away the profit and it kills the will in those who work hard to provide new drugs and procedures

No, liberals can't stand profit. Unless it is their own of course.

alge - you are right on target. Squasch profit ability and you squash incentive. You squash incentive and you have a nation of sheeople (as someone coined them), who the Government can then control and manipulate, which I believe is Obama's (and his radical czars) ultimate goal.
