So what are you saying?
Based on the applause from the military that shows we have a a less favorable president in Obama?
Not sure what you're trying to say here MC.

I guess they're all really pissed about being forced to leave Iraq. Typical government interference strikes again.

OK guys I gotta call BS on this one.
In case you never served (which I am assuming you haven't) you need to know a little about military customs and courtesies.
This video DOES NOT show the military attitude towards the current President.
When President Bush enters the room they are not playing Hail to the Chief.
When President Obama enters the room they are.

According to military customs and courtesies when Hail to the Chief is played the GI stands at the position of attention. You do not applaud and cheer while at the position of attention.
This video is and the blog and comments that go along with it claiming it shows the military attitude towards the current President are BS.
Sorry guys.

Thanks AngelMT for your info based on your knowledge and experience with the military.
I think MC doesn't really have a point.
And it's good to see you on the blogs.

You ladies might want to ask yourselves why BHO was so formal and played HTTC while Pres Bush wanted to just be with the guys (and ladies)? Could there be any arrogance displayed by one over the other? Maybe distain for the military was on display there? Take from it what you think is right.

Thank you MC for referring to us as "ladies" very gentleman like of you : )
I am glad AngelMT pointed out why they're not clapping when Obama entered the room.
That explains a lot.
I just hope our soldiers get out of the war zones soon

AngelIMT is correct. The admiral applauding should also have been standing at attention. However, HTTC is usually reserved for formal circumstances, and is not normally used in situations like this. Also, barama's PR deparatment failed to include the 3 Ruffles and Flurishes which precedes HTTC. But I did notice a difference. GWB got a "Hoo-Rah" when he departed. Barry didn't. Maybe it was the tape editing. But MC has a very good point too.

M.C. your point is very clear and very accurate in actuality.

Here I am with my useless information I just recently acquired....IF a medal of honor person came into that room EVERY PERSON in uniform would have to greet AND salute him/her BEFORE any one else. That is a law. Spooky, huh?!

Posted by: AWBC on September 2, 2009 6:07PM CST
How would a person know if they were n the presence of a MOH recipient? Do they always wear it?

Posted by: Underdog on September 2, 2009 6:08PM CST
There is nothing that is "spooky" about that. That is part of the award itself The MOH is the highest award issued and the criteria is very steep. It just isn't given lightly given away. Even the president as commander in chief would have to render honors to the recipient first before recieving them.

The medal itself can be worn with appropriate civilian clothing. Also, there is a lapel pin which is a miniature of the ribbon which can be worn. It is light blue with 5 white stars on it.

I don't recall GW ever having HTTC played when he address the troops. I could be wrong but just a thought. Why did OBUMMER have the song played, doesn't appear to be the Proper setting for the song. Under is also correct in that there were no Ruffles and Flurishes although I thought there were 4 not 3 prior to the song. I do think that MC has a valid point.

The comments about the Medal Of Honor are correct. Receipients rate a salute from every rank, including the Commander in Chief. Recipients wear the lapel pin to honor those whose sacrifice made it possible for them to receive it, not to honor themselves.
